I’m Kerstin and I work as a teacher at Ersta Sköndal University College in Stockholm. I teach nursing students in palliative care and primary care courses. I am also responsible for a course in health care ethics. Previously I worked as a registered nurse and I have graduate diplomas in specialist nursing in the fields of pediatric care and primary health care. I have a Master of Science with a major in Public Health Science and my degree project had the title: The same school – different worlds. Upper secondary school students´ experiences of well-being at school. In this project I was interested in the salutogenic approach focusing on factors that support human health and well-being, rather than on factors that cause disease.
I came into contact with problem-based learning in the late 1990s, first as a student and then as a teacher at Linköping University. We introduced PBL- teaching at Ersta Sköndal University College in the early 2000’s and I like this pedagogical approach of active learning and the teachers´ roles as facilitators. I have not used e-learning or blogging or tweechat earlier and this is my first blog.
